Self Assessments Chapters 1 and 2

Q Instructions In this module, you will begin to reflect privately on what you have learned about yourself related to this module’s topics. These reflections will feed into the course’s final project. To get you started, please complete the following two self-assessments. • Chapter 1 Assessment: This assessment is meant to establish your baseline interests in the skills as covered in the first chapter. This will not tell you whether you should or should not be a manager or whether you have “what it takes” to be a manager. It will, however, give you feedback on whether you are interested in the kinds of things that managers do in their jobs. o Review the Chapter 1 Self-Assessment: Is Management for You? document from this module’s resources, read the items and determine your response for each. Then, write up what your score indicates about you by answering the following questions: ? Which items are most unlike you? ? What skills might you need to further develop to overcome those items which are unlike you? ? How can you go about overcoming the areas of those behaviors? o This section should be at least 500 words in length, double-spaced with standard margins, with clear evidence of editing and proofreading on your part. • Chapter 2 Assessment: This assessment is meant to provide you with a baseline for future development of conflict-management skills. It will raise your awareness of how you handle differences of opinion before you begin working in a team. It may even inspire you to make conscious changes in your conflict-management style, helping you—and your team—be more effective. o Review the Chapter 2 Self-Assessment: Dealing with Conflict document from this module’s resources. Read the items and determine your response for each. Then, write up what your score indicates about you by answering the following questions: ? Do you agree with your scores overall? Why or why not? ? What was your primary and secondary method of dealing with conflict? Do you agree with these scores? Why or why not? ? What method would you like to grow in? What steps will you take to grow in this method of dealing with conflict? o This section should be at least 500 words in length, double-spaced with standard margins, with clear evidence of editing and proofreading on your part. Please note that your write up for each self-assessment should be combined into one document and submitted. This assignment is due by Sunday of Module 1 at 11:59 PM CT.

This assessment focused on the skills and tendencies I have and how or if they fit the tendencies and qualities of a manager. As discussed in Chapter one, the best managers are the ones that can lead their team in productivity. There are various ways the chapter talked about this being done. Having a positive attitude will encourage the workers to have a positive attitude which creates an overall positive work environment. Also, this helps managers get people to do what they want them to do. This is something that comes naturally for me. is something that I realized came natural to me.
